Instead of a push back, he creates a ring of flames at a target location that has the same spell effects as it does now, except change the slow 25% to a 1 second stun for enemies who attempt to pass through it.
Probably also needs a slight CD reduction.

I think this allows more strategic plays that can work in both solo and team fight situations.

"Valir coalesces a ring of flames after 1.5 seconds at the target location, dealing 200 / 220 / 240 / 260 / 280 / 300 (+60% Total Magic Power) points of Magic Damage to all that pass through the line of fire that lasts for 2 seconds. Targets who cross the line will be slowed for 25% for 1 second.

Vengeance Flame Enhancement: Valir will increase the damage of this skill to 260 / 286 / 312 / 338 / 364 / 390 (+52% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage and the firewall extended to 4 seconds. If an enemy passes through the firewall, they will be stunned for 1 second and take 80 / 88 / 96 / 104 / 112 / 120 (+24% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage every 1 second."

Interesting suggestion. Ring of fire will be great, but I think 1 sec stun is a bit too much plus with his passive. In my pov, the current valir is fine and quite balanced too.

Yeah i feel like a ring of fire would work best with another slowdown effect, since an extra stun would just give him way too much power but an aoe slow wouldnt be so bad

Understandable for your concern, however applying the stun to his Ultimate Vengeance Flame does make the CC more balanced due to length of cool down and total activation duration of VF.

Bear in mind, the ring if set as the description does allow 1.5 seconds to escape the middle of the ring, and abilities such as flicker can skip over the wall avoiding any CC and out of harms way if trapped which does allow for counter play. The ring without ultimate will just slow targets.

Just to clarify, it's not like Vales/Tigreals ultimate where the entire diameter/area is covered, just the circumference / perimeter which raises a firewall that affects enemies that pass through it.

The push back at the moment acts as a 1 second Psuedo Stun anyway while targets are caught and lifted.
